On Demand Thursdays: Teaching Fiscal Policy and Equity in the COVID Era
Objective
Teachers will be able to:
- Define what is meant by fiscal stimulus and what short and long term impacts are for an economy recovering from the COVID-19 recession.
- Explain how and why certain policies are developed, and their consequences.
- See how fiscal policies that prioritize greater racial equity will lead to improved national economic outcomes for all.

In this economics webinar, find relevant fiscal policy lessons that teach about this national economic and social moment.
Description
Use EdTech tools like Nearpod and Kahoot, as well as fun activities, to help students understand concepts related to fluctuations in an economy, like has happened since the beginning of the pandemic. These fiscal policy lessons can be used both in virtual and in-person teaching environments.
Additionally, guest speaker Demetriouse Russell, CEO of Venn Diagram Partners, will provide insights into how policies that designed to build racial equity will improve the overall economy by generating greater business and leadership opportunities for Black and Brown communities.
