In this webinar teachers will be able to:
The presentation will include the following focus: 1. Overview and explanation of “Budget Vocabulary” necessary for students to understand in these lessons (income, expenses, needs/wants, savings, prioritizing) 2. Overview of prerequisite math skills for students to move on to budgeting (multiplication/division, decimals/percentages, calculating elapsed time, addition/subtraction) 3. Basic Budget strategies: 50/30/20 budget, Zero-Dollar budgeting, emergency funds strategies 4. Teacher resources available for these concepts Throughout the session, the presenter will share suggestions for “conversation starters” that can be helpful to gain perspective of students current understanding of money and budgeting. The presenter will also highlight prerequisite math concepts required before introducing budget concepts. This will be helpful for teachers of younger students to know what functional math skills are most worthwhile for preparation for FinLit classes.
