In this economics activity, students will compare the practices of two businesses in their community.

Worksheet: COMPETITION IN MY COMMUNITY

This is an individual activity where students will compare two local businesses in their community and enter their findings in the Competition in My Community Worksheet. Businesses use various incentives and practices to compete with one another, even small businesses in small communities. To complete this activity, students need to follow the directions below:

1. Select two businesses in your community providing similar services or goods (two local restaurants, two grocery stores, two clothing stores, etc). You may want to visit their websites, ads in the local newspaper, in-store flyers, signs, and advertising, or your shopping experiences to compare the two stores.
2. Enter your findings in the Competition in My Community Worksheet.
